James M. Dunn is Summoned
Prominent Citizen of Earlville Dies After Long Illness
Highly Regarded in Community

James M. Dunn, a prominent retired citizen of Earlville, died at his home here Thursday night at 7:00 o'clock, following an extended illness with Bright's disease.
Mr. Dunn was born in Appleton, Wisconsin April 7, 1856, and was therefore 67 years of age. He was married to Loma Bonsall on Jan. 6, 1881. The couple resided at Charles City for many years and later came to Earlville. Five chldren were born to them. A daughter, Merle, and a son, Guy, preceded their father in death. Mr. Dunn is survived by his widow, two sons, Glen of Souix City and Garth of Los Angeles, Calif., and one daughter, Mrs. Iva Koehne, of this place.
Mr. Dunn owned and cultivated a farm south of Earlville for some time, and later purchased the Earlville creamery, which he operated for several years, and he was known as an honest, progressive businessman. He was also one of the directors of the Interstate Telephone Company and occupied positions of trust in his home town. Fraternally he was an active member of the Masonic lodge here and the O.E.S.
The funeral was held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G.W. McConkey. The large congregation in attendance and the many beautiful floral offerings attested to the high esteem in which he was held. Square lodge, A.F. & A.M., attended in a body and used the burial ritual of the order at the grave in Fairview cemetery.
