IS DEAD AT 96

Hopkinton, Ia. – Services for Oscar F. Lewis, 96, retired Hopkinton business man and oldest resident of the area, who died Tuesday at the home of a niece, Mrs. T. A. Cline, after a short illness, were scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Goettsch Funeral Home. Burial was to be in the cemetery here.

Lewis was born Feb. 2, 1853 at Cleveland, Ohio, and came to Delaware County with his parents in 1855. The family settled on a farm in the upper Buck Creek area west of here. The family went back to Ohio in 1870 but Lewis returned to Hopkinton in 1893. Later, he went to California and mined in the gold fields but returned here in 1904.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Florence Cramer, of Clarkston, Wash., and Mrs. Alice Main, of Manchester; a brother, Henry, of Hopkinton, and other relatives. He was preceded by his wife and a sister.
