Anna Belle (Pettlon) Dighton 1924-2008

Anna Belle Dighton, 84, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, surrounded by family at Heritage Nursing and Rehab in Cedar Rapids. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at United Church of Monticello. Officiating will be the Rev. Edwin Moreano. Arrangements made through Stewart Funeral Home of Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her son, Doug of Cedar Rapids; son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Teresa Dighton of Rapid City, S.D.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Derek and Michelle Dighton and daughters Felicia and Sydney of Fort Eustis, Va., Dustin and Angel Dighton and daughters Hannah and Cadence of Lisbon, Jack and Dawn Dozark, daughter Ashley and son William of Cresco, Alexander and Jenny Dighton and son Kowen of Council Bluffs, and Andrew and Chelsea Dighton and son Riley of Belle Fourche, S.D.; and two sisters, Glenniece (Tom) Spink of Sequim, Wash., and Nola Zane (Clifford) Burrows of Harlingen, Texas.

Anna Belle was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Berniece Pettlon; husband, Clark; brothers, Paul, Gilbert and Le Roy Pettlon; sister, Marcheta (Richard) Odehnal; son, Roy Glenn "R.G." of Lisbon; and a very special friend, Frank Williams of Monticello.

Anna Belle was well known for her cooking, craft work, her loving nature and especially her willingness to help and give to others. She was married to Clark Dighton Nov. 22, 1942, in Buck Creek, where they farmed until owning and operating City Cafe in Hopkinton. After Ann Belle worked as a cottage mother at the Training School for Boys in Eldora, the two moved back to Hopkinton until Clark's death on April 26, 1995. Anna Belle lived in Monticello until moving to Sheldon in 2003. She went to live at Heritage Nursing and Rehab in Cedar Rapids.

The family would like to thank Heritage Nursing and Rehab and Hospice for their love and care.
