Vera Mohr, 90, of Manchester, formerly of Hopkinton, died April 21, 2012. A celebration of life and visitation will be held Saturday, June 9, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Hopkinton, starting at 9 a.m., with Mass at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Hopkinton Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the church. Goettsch Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Surviving are four daughters, JoAnne Smith of Palm Coast, Fla., Dianne Mohr of Hemet, Calif., Dorothy Knoke of Cedar Rapids and Billie Helm (Al) of Cedar Rapids; four sons, Gary (Debbie) of Cedar Rapids, Larry (Karla) of Mount Pleasant, Terry (Nancy Putz) of Delhi and Harold Jr. (Jane) of Manchester; sister, Mary Joan of Boone, N.C.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Sr.; brothers, Pete and Paul; sisters, Virginia and Mary Vitalis; and grandsons, Casey and Price.
Vera Bernadine Wordehoff was born Dec. 26, 1921, in Fremont, Neb., the daughter of Charles and Dorothy Wordehoff. She attended Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids and graduated with a degree from the school's secretarial course. She married Harold Detlaf Mohr Sr. on June 30, 1943, in San Diego, Calif. They moved to the Hopkinton area, where she was an active farm wife, until moving into town, where she worked at Pat's Grocery Store and eventually became a full-time homemaker.
She loved taking care of her family, tending to her flowers and vegetable garden, feeding the hummingbirds in her backyard, reading, and playing solitaire and pinochle with her family.
