Arlan Benter, 55, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, in his home following a sudden illness. Graveside services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Hopkinton Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Tuesday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Hopkinton.

Survivors include four sons, Brendan of Houston, Devin of Cherry Point, N.C., and Conan and Eoin, both of Hopkinton; two brothers, Kenneth and Irvin, both of Hopkinton; and two sisters, Janella Knockle of Marion and Selma Welshons of Cedar Rapids.

Instead of flowers, memorials are suggested.
