Ralph Fiedler,69, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 16, 2003, in Crestview Acres Care Center, Marion, following an extended illness. Services - 10:30 a.m. Thursday, St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton, by the Rev. John Kremer. Burial - Hopkinton Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Goettsch Funeral Home.

Survivors include two sons, Mark (Shellie) Fiedler of Hopkinton and Ralph Fiedler of Waterloo; a grandson, Quinn; three brothers, Clarence, Jim and Hank Fiedler, all of Hopkinton; two sisters, Delores Bacon of Orlando, Fla., and Laura Lea Meyer of Aurora.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Caroline, on Dec. 4, 1999.

Ralph was born Nov. 23, 1934, in Hopkinton. He was the son of Lawrence and Opal Bowers Fiedler. Ralph received his education in the Hopkinton schools. He was employed by Iowa State University as a forester for Brightons Timber.

Ralph Fiedler and Caroline Boysen were married Aug. 5, 1967, at the First Presbyterian Church in Monticello. The couple lived in Hopkinton, where Ralph was employed by Murray Grain. He retired in 1984. Ralph enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR.
