Willa Mae Johnson, 83, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in her home after a sudden illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, United Methodist Church, Hopkinton. Burial: Hopkinton Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Hopkinton.

Surviving are two sons, Carl Johnson of Hopkinton and special friend Annie Millenkamp and Russell Johnson of West Lebanon, N.H., and special friend Mary Jane Miller; two grandchildren, Ann and Jeff; a great-granddaughter, Breanna; two brothers, Faye (Alice) Loop of Lamont and John (Marilyn) Loop of Unionville, Mo.; a sister, Leone (Paul) Leeser of South Bend, Ind.; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Loop of Monticello.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willis; a brother, Bert, and a sister, Dorothy.

Willa Mae Loop was born June 30, 1916, in Hopkinton, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Rebecca Best Loop. Willa Mae graduated from Hopkinton schools in 1935. She was employed at Clark DeShaw Grocery in Hopkinton. Willa Mae Loop and Willis Johnson were married in Kahoka, Mo., in March 1942. The couple started farming near Wasco, Ill. During the war years, Willa Mae worked at Barber Green Co. They retired from farming in 1961 and purchased the nursing home in Monticello. The couple made their home in Hopkinton with Willa Mae operating the nursing home and Willis working as a livestock buyer. They retired in the early 1970s. Willis preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1991.
