DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Robert J. Scherbring, 54, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Dyersville, son of Florence and Fritz Scherbring, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Ed Petty officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Heafey's West Center Chapel, Omaha, and from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville.

Surviving are his significant other, Gail Lens, of Omaha; a daughter, Brenda Antholz, of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two sons, Matthew Benjamin Scherbring and Bryan Scherbring, both of Omaha; his mother, Florence Scherbring, of Dyersville; a brother, Terry Scherbring, of Oelwein; and a sister, Becky Schwendinger, of Dyersville.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred "Fritz" Scherbring, in 1979; and a nephew, Sam Schwendinger.
