DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- LuAnn E. Reicher, 83, of Dyersville, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at her home after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Donald Hertges officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a scripture service at 3 p.m. at a Catholic Daughters of America/American Legion Auxiliary Rosary at 4 p.m.

She was born on Feb. 6, 1925, in Petersburg, daughter of Henry and Antoinette (Tegeler) Wessels. She married Stephen H. Reicher on Nov. 4, 1947, in Dyersville; he preceded her in death in 1984.

LuAnn and her sister Virgene Fitzgerald owned and operated Lu Gene's Beauty Shop in Dyersville since the early 1950s. Her continued commitment to her longtime customers lasted until about two weeks ago when she was no longer physically able.

LuAnn was a very special mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt who had a knack for finding the most unique gifts. She enjoyed doing genealogical research for relatives and friends and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Dyersville Historical Society.

Surviving are her four sons, Rick (Dianne), of West Dundee, Ill., Rod (Phyllis), of Dyersville, Russ (Julie), of Worthington, and George, of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Ruby Reicher, of Califon, N.J., and RoseMary Reicher, of Chicago; eight grandchildren, Josh (Eileen), Tim (CaSandra), Jason (friend, Tonya), Nick (Tracey), Joe, Janelle, Emily and Matt (friend, Nicole) Reicher; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Sr. Mary David Wessels OSF, of Dubuque; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Emma Wessels, Norma Wessels, Mary Ellen (Don) Lakeman, Ray (Therese) Reicher, John Fitzgerald, all of Dyersville, Jane Loebsack, of Delafield, Wis., and Frank Fincel, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Delores (Earl) Pfohl, Isabelle (Clem) Engelken, Marcella (Elmer) Krapfl and Gene Fitzgerald; four brothers, Jimmy, Clarence (Anna), Ralph (Martha) and Don Wessels; two sisters-in-law, Esther (Joe) Tauke and Grace Fincel; and brother-in-law, Keith Loebsack.
