DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Donald T. Recker, 56, of Dyersville, died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, after a farming accident.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Ed Petty officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 10 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville. Friends also may call and after 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where there will be a parish scripture service at 5 p.m.

He was born on Oct. 23, 1945, in Monticello, Iowa, son of Florian and Helen (Hirtz) Recker. He married Joan Burkle on Sept. 28, 1968, in Dyersville. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, various fun activities with his friends, and his life's work of farming. Don was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Parish.

Surviving are his wife, Joan; two sons, Doug (Nikki) and Ted Recker, both of Dyersville; a daughter, Julie (Tom) Hageman, of Dyersville; five grandchildren, Macy, Tia and Charlie Recker and Ben and Luke Hageman; his father, Florian Recker, of Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque; three brothers, Richard (Mary Ann) Recker, of Earlville, Robert (Kay) Recker, of Waterloo, and Herbert (Mary) Recker, of Dyersville; and a sister, Rosann (David) Buchheit, of Dyersville. He was preceded in death by his mother; and a brother, Tom.
