DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Mrs. Florabelle (Florie) Rahe, 81, of Dyersville, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where the parish scripture service will be held at 4 p.m.

Mrs. Rahe was born April 22, 1919, the daughter of Edward and Laura (Gerken) Klostermann. She married Gilbert Rahe on Sept. 3, 1940, in St. Francis Xavier Church, Dyersville; he died in 1998.

She and her husband were blessed with eleven children and farmed together, east of Dyersville for 50 years until their retirement in 1992. She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Parish. She enjoyed baseball and bingo and will be remembered for her reverence for her faith and devotion to her family.

Surviving are eight daughters, Mary Kay (Peter) Matisheck, of Fort Dodge, Lois (Don) Noel, of Dubuque, Doris (Gary) Brown, of Evanston, Ill., Janet (Bill) Hennekens, of Minnetonka, Minn., Marsha (Mark) Hauser, of Edgewood, Carmen (Jim) Epstein, of Chatham, Ill., Colleen (Ron) Mormann, of Marion, and Michelle Rahe, of Dyersville; three sons, John (Nikki), Dewayne (Krystal) and Keith (Jacque) Rahe, all of Dyersville; 27 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Wilma Rahe and Mary Scherbring McBride.

A Florabelle Rahe Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque for their kind help and caring support during their mother's illness.
