EARLVILLE, Iowa - Mrs. Clara C. Puff, 89, of rural Earlville, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at Ennoble Manor Care Center, Dubuque, after a short battle with cancer. She donated her mortal remains to the University of Iowa for anatomical study.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, where the family will meet friends after 10 a.m. Thursday. The Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Puff was a homemaker.

She was born on Nov. 15, 1909, in Petersburg, daughter of Frank and Katherine (Pasker) Lueck. She married Leo A. Puff on Feb. 7, 1934, in Dyersville; he preceded her in death.

Surviving are a daughter, Doris (Raymond) Weber, of Bernard; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Dale; three sisters, Pauline Schmuecker, Franciska "Frances" Lueck and Gunilda Krogmann; and four brothers, Henry A., Aloys B. and Arthur J. Lueck, and a brother in childhood.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to those with Hospice of Dubuque, the staff at Ennoble Manor, Dr. Mozena and Dr. Oppert for their kindness and care, and to Cookie Scherrman, Fr. Petty and all of the relatives and friends who made frequent visits.
