DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Lois E. Pins, 78, of Dyersville, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, following a sudden illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Msgr. Ed Petty officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dy- ersville, where there will be a parish and Cath- olic Daughters of the Americas rosary at 4 p.m.

She was born on March 14, 1925, near Dyersville, daughter of William Bernard and Emma Bernadette (Woerdehoff) Goerdt.

She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier High School, class of 1942. After graduation, she worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Dyersville, at Collins Radio Co. in Cedar Rapids, and at the Dyersville Commercial office.

She married Anthony "Tony" Pins on May 25, 1948, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville; he preceded her in death on March 28, 1997. She began to help him in his business with Three Rivers F-S.

She was a 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Rose 350.

Surviving are four daughters, Suzanne Pins, Nancy Knepper and Janice (Daniel) Smith, all of Dubuque, and Audrey (James) Golden, of Salinas, Calif.; a son, Kenneth (Kimberley) Pins, of Rockville, Md.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Neil Goerdt, of Dyersville; a sister-in-law, Donna Goerdt, of Dyersville; three brothers-in-law, Vince Pins, of Des Moines, and George (Shirley) Pins and Cy (Doris) Pins, both of Dyersville; and four sisters-in-law, Mary Goedken, of Monticello, Eileen Pins, of Dyersville, Ethel Pins, of Earlville, and Eldora Pins, of Manchester.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Joe Knepper; a brother, Lloyd F. Goerdt; seven sisters-in-law, Sr. Mary Ernest, OSF, Lois Pins, Therese Pins, Clara Pins, Esther Pins, Lorraine Pins and Clara Pins; and six brothers-in-law, Bert, Jim, Mark, Louis, Jerome and Paul Pins.
