DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- Eldrew B. Niehaus, 90, of Dyersville, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 15, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Donald Hertges officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

He was born on April 26, 1918, in Dyersville, son of Leo and Camilla "Millie" (Jasper) Niehaus. He married Leona Langel on May 1, 1941, in Dyersville.

Eldrew began as a partner with his dad in a construction company designing and building houses. There were no building materials available because of World War II, so he then worked as a mechanic at Scherrman's Implement for more than 30 years.

Surviving are his wife, Leona; son, Dave "Moose" (Judy), of Dyersville, and James (Jane), of New Vienna; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Valeria (Paul) Beckmann; a granddaughter-in-law, Jackie Niehaus; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
