DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Margaret Elizabeth Nesler, 89, of Dyersville, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville, following a short illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

She was born on Nov. 2, 1915, in Cresco, daughter of Leo and Frances (Raker) Bahning. The family moved to Dyersville several years later, and she resided there the rest of her life.

She attended St. Francis Academy and graduated in 1932.

She married Gilbert Nesler on June 6, 1940, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica and was a lifelong member of that parish. Margaret and Gilbert shared 64 wonderful years together.

Margaret enjoyed trout fishing, playing cards, bowling and the company of her many friends. Her special joy was her 10 grandchildren, and she always remained actively involved in their lives. She also took great pride in her three great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Gilbert; a daughter, Suzanne (Emmett) Lampkin, of San Diego; two sons, Dennis (Andrea) Nesler, of Pittsburgh, and Frederick (Janell) Nesler, of Omaha, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Bahning, of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Diane Nesler; and a brother, the Rev. Frederick Bahning.

Memorials may be given to Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque.
