Joseph R. Woods, 76, a lifelong resident of the Coggon area, passed away 10:20 a.m. Thursday, November 27, 1975 at his home in Coggon, He was born the son of Oney and Marguerite Clark Woods on July 13, 1899 in Jackson Township. On September 28, 1921 at Ryan, Iowa, he was married to Eleanor Keegan who passed away October 2, 1970 at Cedar Rapids. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church of Coggon, and U. A. W. Retirees Local 1316.

Surviving are one son, Joseph B. Woods of Center Point, one grandson, Edward Woods of Center Point; two granddaughters, Mrs. William (Shirley) Wright of Cedar Rapids and Brenda Woods of Center Point; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Clement and Walter Woods of Coggon, Peter Woods of Knoxville and Louis Woods of Cedar Rapids; and three sisters, Agnes Sheely of Marion, Marguerite Ryan of Key West, Iowa and Mrs. Harold (Ann) Cargol of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by two daughters who died in infancy, and one brother.

A Funeral Mass was offered by Rev. Nestor Goedken, at 10 a.m. Sat. November 29, 1975 at St. John's Catholic Church in Coggon. Interment: Calvary Cemetery at Ryan.

Bearers: Jerry Schlueter, Harold Woods, Dorrance Sheely, James Woods, Bernard Coleman, Robert Klima.
