Clarence E. Lyman
Clarence E.Lyman, 74, lifelong resident of Delaware County, passed away Sunday at Delaware County Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He had been hospitalized five days.
Mr. Lyman farmed in Prairie township. He was a member of the First Lutheran church, Odd Fellows, Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge.
Born in Prairie township on Feb. 4, 1887, he was the son of Sanford and Nellie Cowell Lyman. He attended Manchester public schools and on Feb. 4, 1920 he was united in marriage with Mildred Becker at Waterloo.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Lutheran church with Rev. Richard F. Gronewold officiating. Interment was made in Oakland cemetery. The Gill funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife; two daughter, Mrs. James (June) Sandhagen of Manchester and Gayle Lyman of Iowa City; a half sister, Martha Rossow of Masonville; two brothers, Archie and George Lyman, both of Manchester; and two grandchildren, Jane and Jerry Sandhagen both of Manchester. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother,Oba Lyman and a granddaughter,Judy Sandhagen.
