C.W.Lyman Dies Suddenly
Pioneer succumbs to Uraemia on Wednesday Morning. Was one of County's First Settlers
Chester W. Lyman, one of the earliest settlers in this county, succumbed suddenly to an attack of uraemia on Wednesday morning, his death occurring at the home of his son, Sanford Lyman. The funeral will be held from the residence tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock, the sermon by Rev. W.H. Ensign and burial taking place in Oakland cemetery.
Mr. Lyman was born in Vermont, September 29, 1826, his age at his death being 86 years. Passing his boyhood and youth in Vermont and New York, Mr. Lyman came west and to this county in the early fifties, settling upon a homestead in Prairie township on May 1, 1853, He was fourth settler in the county. His marriage to Miss Margaret Miller took place here in July, 1858. She died in 1900.
Three children survive Mr. Lyman, Mrs. Thomas McCarthy of south of this place, Sanford Lyman of Manchester, and Fred Lyman of Amity, Oregon.
This paper expresses a regret that has been general in this community following the announcement of Mr. Lyman's sudden passing. He was one of the most highly regarded of our older citizens, and was accorded the respect and liking of an acquaintance numbering many warm friends, both in Manchester and in Prairie township.
