Robert H. Rodies
Longtime Resident Dies; Rites Today

Robert H. Rodies, 79, longtime Delaware county resident and former Manchester resident, passed away at 6:30 P.M. Saturday at Delaware County Memorial hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Rodies were to be held at 1:30 P.M.; today (Tuesday) at the Shelly funeral home,. with the Rev. Richard Kamper officiating. Burial was to be made in Oakland cemetery.

Robert H. Rodies, son of Robert and Bertha Kline Rodies; born June 30, 1886, in Frankfurt, Germany. He came to the United States at the age of four years with his parents to a farm in the Dundee area. He received his education in the rural school between Dundee and Strawberry Point. Following his schooling, he engaged in farm work.

He was united in marriage with Lizzie E. Graham on February. 20, 1912, at Manchester. They continued farming in this community until 1929 when they moved to Manchester, and Mr. Rodies entered the employ of the J. M. Jones and Sons garage here as an auto mechanic. He worked at the Jones garage until 1945, when he and his wife acquired a small acreage near Guttenberg and moved there to make their home.

Mr. Rodies is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lizzie E. Rodies of Route 2, Guttenberg; two sons, Burdette R. and Wayne E. Rodies,; both of Manchester; one daughter, Mrs. Bernice Arbegust of Springfield. Ill., five grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Louise Landis and Mrs. Frieda Lockwood, both of Visalia, Calif., and Mrs. Meta Beddow of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ernest.
