Mrs. Elizabeth M. Rodies, 90 native Delaware county resident and former Manchester resident, died Thursday morning June 15, at Jackson county hospital in Maquoketa following a long illness. Services for Mrs. Rodies were held at the Shelly funeral home at 1 :30 P.M. Saturday, June 17, with the Rev. Merlin Davies officiating. Burial was made in the family lot in Oakland cemetery.
Elizabeth Melissa. daughter of Charles and Matilda (Allen) Graham, was born April 6, 1888 on the parental farm in Delaware county, northeast of Manchester. She received her education in the rural schools of Delaware county. Following her schooling she lived at home until marriage. She was married to Robert Rodies February. 20. 1912 at Waterloo. They farmed in Delaware county until 1947 when they retired to a small acreage near Guttenberg. Mr. Rodies died in 1965 and following his death she moved to Manchester to make her home and she lived here until 1975 when she entered the Mill Valley Care Center at Bellevue.
Mrs. Rodies is survived by two sons. Burdette and Wayne Rodies, both of Manchester; one daughter. Mrs. C.D. (Bernice) Smith of Manchester; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Graham of Oelwein, and one sister, Mrs. Effie Brenniesen of Cedar Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, six sisters and one grandson.
