Arnold Brandt Shows Way
In Husking Contest

Manchester, Ia. Oct 31. – Special: To Arnold Brandt, living three miles east of Greeley, goes the honor in winning the Delaware County corn husking contest on the farm tenanted by Howard Schnittjer, or near Delhi, Friday, sponsored by the Farm Bureau and Delhi Commercial Club. Brandt husked 1, 453.9 pounds of corn, or the equivalent of 200 bushels, in the one hour and 20 minutes of the contest. Mr. Brandt won a similar Delaware County contest last year. Upwards of one hundred farmers watched the contest with interest.

Leo Kremer of Monticello places second with 1,370 pounds; Leo Ament, Hopkinton, third with 1,346.4; Fred Briggman, Manchester, fourth, 1,309.2; Russell Clendennen, Manchester, fifth, 1,293.1; Edward Quint, Hopkinton, sixth, 1,272.5; Joe Murray, Hopkinton, seventh, 1,224.4; and Ralph Binning, Greeley, eighth, 1,205.8 pounds.

County Agent S. K. Huehn of Manchester, Lyle Retz, Howard Schnittjer, Clifford Rice, Mr. Lanning, Smith-Hughes, instructor at the Delaware High School, and others, judged the contest.
