CLAIMED FATHER KILLED SON
A Sensational Case Now on Trial
at Manchester-Manslaughter is
ChargedManchester, Ia., Jan. 6. – One of the most sensational cases that has been tried here for several years has commenced in the District Court with Judge A. S. Blair presiding. The action is a suit brought against Lester Clark, a farmer, residing in the northern part of the county, by the State of Iowa, of the charge of manslaughter. Clark it is alleged, maltreated a young son of unsound mind in such a brutal manner that the child, who was about twelve years of age, died from the effects of the alleged outrages. The testimony given, which included that of the county coroner, brought to light some very strong charges against the defendant, who it is claimed, abused the boy worse than if he had been a dumb brute.
Over 100 witnesses have been summoned to appear and the case is caused a great deal of local comment.
