It was a mess. The water table in land not directly effected by river & creek flooding became saturated - hence a lot of basement flooding. The Journal-Reporter archives were housed in the basement of the newspaper office and "got it" good.

A lot of us cleaned out our basements in '93 & sump pump sales soared through the ceiling.

Holy Cow, Sharon! I wasn't aware of any flood in Leon in '93...but of
course, I was in West Berlin at that time but......my goodness, what the
hell happened? Surely the Little River didn't get far enough out of it's
banks to reach all the way to downtown Leon. Can you explain more about
that flood?..... I guess it could've been Steel Creek but that hardly seems
possible....I was born and raised in and around Decatur and I can only
imagine what Grand River would have done to it and Davis City and Grand
River if a flood was up to downtown Leon.....mac
