I'm still searching for the place of burial
for poor old Amasa Wellington
Waldo and his wife, Louisa (Bullock) Waldo.

Amasa was born in Niagara Co., NY 22 Aug
1840. In 1860, he married Louisa
Bullock in Michigan. Amasa & Louisa farmed
in Michigan. They had 2
children, Forrest and Mirriam. Amasa took in
his widowed mother-in-law,
Rebecca Bullock. She resided with the Waldos
for at least 7 years.
Following her death, and the death of son
Forrest, the Waldo family moved to
Decatur Co., Iowa.

Louisa (Bullock) Waldo's brothers, Noah
Porter Bullock and Timothy Benjamin
Bullock, were living in Decatur. Timothy was
a physician, who later moved to
St. Joe, Missouri. Noah was an attorney and
at one time, mayor of Leon.
Noah eventually moved to Oklahoma.

Amasa and Louisa raised their only remaining
child, Mirriam, in Decatur
County. In 1896, Mirriam married George B.
Lafollett of Mercer Co.,
Missouri. Mirriam died the following year,
shortly after giving birth to
baby Louisa. Amasa once again took in family
- George and baby Louisa
resided with the Waldos following Mirriam's
death.

George Lafollett remarried Lida Farnes in
1900. By 1905, George, little
Louisa, and his 2nd wife moved to Des Moines.
Shortly after the Lafolletts
moved to Des Moines, Amasa's beloved wife,
Louisa, died.

Amasa, now alone in the world - his son dead,
his daughter dead, his wife
dead and his only grandchild living far from
him - moved to the poor farm.
*sigh* In 1908, Amasa wrote an article
published in the Decatur County
Journal, expressing his gratitude for the
Christmas festivities at the county
home.

That is the last I find of Amasa Wellington
Waldo. I have not found a date
of death for him, nor a place of burial for
him or his wife. Their daughter,
Mirriam, is buried in the Hamilton Cemetery
in Pleasanton.

Does anyone have information on the
Waldo/Bullock/Lafollett families?
