Interested in the family of Samuel Gibson Sr. who married Margaret "Peggy" Meyer. Looking for descendants of this family. Samuel Sr. died Oct. 22, 1867 and is buried in Metier Cemetery near Leroy. More info on Samuel Sr.'s parents in Ohio or Pennsylvania wanted too.
Samuel Sr. lived in Ohio prior to coming to Iowa.
Samuel Sr. would be my ggg grandfather. Did Sam Sr. serve in the US Army at some time?
I descend thru Sam Sr. & Margaret's son, Sgt. Samuel J. Gibson b. Feb. 2, 1841 OH and d. June 9, 1911 in Centenary, Saverton Twp., Ralls Co, Missouri. Samuel J. Gibson was married to Elizabeth "Lizzie" H. Chapman. Samuel J. Gibson was a sergeant for the Union Army during the Civil War and fought in several major battles. He was in the Ohio Infantry.
