John S. Merritt

I have seen records now of my Mitchell and Meek ancestors in the census records, but have not seen the Merritt's. John and Eleanor are buried in the Old Cemetary at Davis City. Their son John was buried in Arkansas, but his wife, Mary Jane Mitchell Merritt was buried in the New Cemetary at Davis City. John and Mary Jane were in the Davis City area long enough to have nine children or more before going to Oklahoma in the land rush. Both grandmothers, Katherine Meek Mitchell and Eleanor Blackburn Merritt died in l899 before John and MaryJane moved. But its like they weren't even there. They had a farm. Their daughter Grace McClaran lived at the old site, I believe. Nearby were her children Hildred Martin and Grisella Hart. I have seen the obit for Eleanor. Is there one for John S. Merritt, the older? I believe he died in either l902 or l908. (The photo of the stone was hard to read.) Is there an obit for Mary Jane?
