Thursday, June 23, l92lThe news of the passing of MILROY RUSSELL, Friday morning, came as a shock to both his family and the community. While the home had been quarantined for a week, the boy was thought to be practically over the diphtheria and he was considered out of danger. However, MILROY had never posessed a strong constitution and had been so weakened by the disease and the antitoxin that he was unable to rally to his former strength. He suffered severely with his heart all night before his demise getting his breath with great difficulty, until the end.
PAUL MILROY, son of B.M. and EVA RUSSELL, was born in Lamoni, Iowa, February 27, l903. His entire life was spent in this community, having attended the public schools from which he would have graduated in l922. He was a member of the Boy Scouts, a boy of clean habits, obedient, honest and kind as a Scout should be. He was a boy who loved his home and spent his evenings there. He was a regular attendant at the Methodist Sunday School and always ready and willing to render service in any capacity and he will be greatly missed. He leaves to mourn of his immediate family, father and mother and two brothers, FOREST CASH and HALLE GORDEN. The funeral was held from the lawn at the home Saturday morning, Rev. J. Vincent Gray making a short address. The Boy Scouts attended in a body to do honor to his memory and their pleasant association with him as a fellow member.
Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Misses Wanda Hammer, Faye Rhodes and Rev. Gray and H.H. Lynn. Remains were laid to rest in Rose Hill.
