The cable from Calcutta, India, has brought word of the death, about March 20, of a former resident of this county, MRS. CARRIE SAMSON SUNDER, daughter of the Rev. SETH SAMSON, late of Van Wert. A serious surgical operation preceded her death by several days. MISS SAMSON went to India in l899, to the Principalship of the Calcutta Girls' High School (English speaking) under the auspices of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church. This position she held until her marriage in l903 to MR. DONALD SUNDER, then of the Civil Service. Since going to India, she has made three visits to her relatives and friends in this part of Iowa. On one of these occasions, twelve years ago, MR. SUNDER accompanied her. The third visit was made last summer, at which time she was with friends in Des Moines, Indianola, Chariton, Van Wert and elsewhere.
