RACHEL SAMANTHA BURNETT, daughter of CYRUS and ELIZA BURNETT, was born July the 25th, l849, and died at the home of her brother, JOHN, in Van Wert, Iowa, November 8, l9l9, aged 70 years, 3 months and l4 days. In l856, when the deceased was but seven years of age, her parents moved to Decatur County, Iowa, where she has since lived. After the death of the mother she and her father kept house for several years, but for the last twenty years, her home has been with her brother.

In early life the deceased made a public confession of her faith in the Lord and as she learned to know His will, she was obedient and faithful. She rests, and blessed are the dead that die in the Lord. The funeral was held in the Christian Church in Van Wert, a former Pastor, A.B. Cornell, preaching the funeral discourse.
