Decatur County Journal
Thursday, August 5, l920

ROBERT M. MILLSAP, son of JAMES and ELIZA MILLSAP, was born in Lawrence County, Indiana, February 3, l84l, and departed this life July 25, l920, aged 79 years, 5 months and l7 days. He was the third son of a family of thirteen children, three brothers and one sister having preceded him to the great beyond. Four brothers and four sisters are left to mourn his departure: SYLVESTER, DAVID and AURELIA, of Decatur, Iowa; CORNELIUS, of Cameron, Mo.; ELIZABETH, HULDAH, REBECCA and HANNA, of Decatur, Iowa, besides many other relatives and friends.

In l853 he came with his parents to Decatur County and settled on a farm which his father purchased of the Government and at which place he spent the remainder of his life. Never having married, he spent his life caring for his widowed mother, brothers and sisters. He was a good citizen, a kind neighbor and his sunny disposition won him many friends. He always took an active part in the affairs of life, both secular and religious, and in his last sickness bore his afflictions patiently, ever remembering the One who suffered for him. In early manhood he was converted in the Methodist Church and later as a student of the Bible, became convinced of a need of a deeper work of grace, sought and obtained the experience of entire sanctification, which experience he manifested by his life fully expressed in the words of Tennyson's "Twilight and Evening Star."

The funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Rev. A.E. Jervis, assisted by Rev. Johnson, of Decatur. The number of mourners and friends in attendance was exceptionally large. The house was full and many were upon the lawn. MR. and MRS. JULIAN HARRIS and DR. ROWELL, of Leon, were present. Interment was made in the Millsap Cemetery.
