RALPH ELLSWORTH TANSEY was born at Sidney, Iowa, January l0th, l902, and died at the Iowa Congregational Hospital in Des Moines, on July 9, l920, at the age of l8 years, 6 months and 29 days after a serious illness of several weeks. He is a son of MR. and MRS. AUSTIN B. TANSEY, of l507 W. 26th St., Des Moines. When RALPH was a baby, MR. and MRS. TANSEY moved to Chariton and later to Leon where they resided for several years. RALPH received his education at those places. Two years ago he moved to Des Moines with his parents. Besides his mother and father, he leaves a sister, HELEN MARIE TANSEY, and a brother, MARION BRITTELL TANSEY. Another brother, LLOYD CLIFFORD, passed to the great beyond September 20, l907, at the age of two years.

Funeral services were held at the TANSEY home on July ll, and a great many friends paid tribute not only to the splendid young man himself, but to his parents and other loved ones who were within the shadows. A great group of men associated with RALPH and MR. TANSEY in their present business life were present. All in all, the service with its sense of faith and tributes of love from so many friends will always be a grreat source of comfort to his parents.

RALPH had lived a strong clean life both as a boy and a young man and he and his father were great companions. Finishing his school work, RALPH had just opened his business life in connection with his father, and it was like the beginning of the unfolding of a happy dream for them both. Upon coming to Des Moines, RALPH developed and made a host of friends who likewise mourn his death. RALPH was a good companion and will be greatly missed by his many friends with whom he was associated. When the blow of serious illness came it found RALPH brave and strong to meet the emergency that arose and his last days and hours were tender and brave in the extreme as he realized that he could not tarry long with his loved ones, but must go in advance of them to the life and work on the other side.

RALPH did not fear death even when he knew in the end that he could not live. He told his loved ones preceding his death that he would be watching and waiting for them on the other side. The quiet strength that RALPH showed until the last sustained his parents and loved ones and will be to them a source of upholding through all the years in spite of their pitiful loss. The remains were removed to Weldon, Iowa. Burial took place in Green Bay Cemetery.

RALPH TANSEY Dies in Des Moines

RALPH, the eldest son of MR. and MRS. BERT TANSEY, formerly of Leon, now residents of Des Moines, passed away in that city last Friday morning at about 7 o'clock, death following an operation for appendicitis. Word came to relatives and friends here in a short time after the sad death occurred. The remains were taken to Weldon where the funeral was held Monday afternoon. Many Leon people drove to Weldon to attend the funeral. The death of this lad was certainly a great shock to the many Leon friends of the family and all sympathize deeply with the bereaved parents and other relatives.
