THOMAS HENRY BUTTS was born in Pickaway County, Ohio, Nov. 20, l845, and departed from earthly existence on May l5, l920, in Decatur County, Iowa, being at the time of his death 72 years, 5 months and 25 days old. He was a son of JOHN and ELLEN BUTTS.

He came to Decatur County with his parents in the year of l858, and has been a resident of this county ever since. He leaves to mourn his departure, four brothers and five sisters. "UNCLE TOM", as he was always called, was converted when a young man and remained a member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services at the Bethel Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. G.T. Ronk, and interment at the Bethel Cemetery.
