EMMA A. JODON, daughter of DAVID and ANNA JODON, was born June l3, l848, in Elkhart County, Indiana, and died November 24, l9l9, at the home of her sister, MRS. P.E. SHIRLEY, in Osceola, Iowa, at the age of 7l years, 5 months and ll days. She was married at the home of her father in Constantine, Mich., February l7, l87l, to JOHN P. HORTON, of Rochester, N.Y., who died at their home in Davis City, Iowa, April 6, l89l. To this union were born five children: FRED W., of Eldora, Iowa; ANNA, who died in infancy; FRANK J., of Goodland, Kansas; MAMIE, who died at the age of four years, and JOHN P., of Dubuque, Iowa. In l874 she, with her husband and baby, came west to Eagleville, Mo., where they lived until l882, then moved to Davis City, Iowa, where the deceased made her home until about 8 years ago.

She was united in marriage to RICHARD M. BLACK, of Davis City, Ia., June l5, l904, who preceded her in death, August 2l, l909. She united with the Methodist Church when a girl and has always been a faithful member and at the time of her death was a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church, of Dubuque, Iowa. Funeral services were conducted at the Union Church at Davis City, November 26, at 2 p.m. by the O.E.S. of Davis City, of which Order she was a charter member, the sermon being delivered by Rev. Rice, of Eldora, Iowa. She was laid to rest by the side of her husband, JOHN P. HORTON, at Davis City, Iowa.
Her three sons, their wives and families were with her during her illness and at the bedside when she passed away.

Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her loss, five grandchildren, one sister, MRS. P.E. SHIRLEY, of Osceola, Iowa, and two brothers, LLOYD JODON, of Des Moines, and HARRY JODON, of Los Angeles, California.
