Arthur Ray Rumley, third son of Roy and Helen Synder Rumley, was born Aug. 23, 1932 in Woodland Township, Decatur County, Iowa and died Aug. 9, 1981 at the Decatur County Hospital, Leon, Iowa, at the age of 48 years, 11 months and 16 days.
He attended rural school and Leon High School.
Ray was united in marriage to Mary Louise Baker on June 5, 1955. To this union 3 children were born: Rodney Ray, Raeleen Louise, and Russell Dean.
He spent most of his life driving a truck for Lorin Woodard and the Applegate Hog Yards. He was a member of the Decatur County Fair Board, Decatur County Saddle Club, Quarter Horse Association, and the Leon Rodeo Committee.
Ray accepted Jesus as his personal Savior and became a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Leon.
Preceding him in death was his father, Roy Rumley.
He is survived by widow, Mary Louise; 3 children: Rodney Ray of Ankeny, Iowa; Raeleen and Russell of the home; his mother, Helen Rumley of Leon; 3 brothers: James and wife, Beverly, Swan, Iowa; Eugene and wife, Mary Anne, of Osceola, Iowa; and Ronald and wife, Dianne, of Kansas City, Mo.; also his mother in law, Georgia Baker, of Leon; 3 sisters in law: Bernice Brown and husband Claude, of Burlington, Iowa; Betty Poole and husband, Dick, of Leon; and Bonnie Spidle and husband, Bob, of West Des Moines; one brother in law, Don Baker, of St. Louis, Mo.; many nieces and nephews; relatives and friends.
