Ed Frost, age 78 of Grimes, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at home. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Prairie Creek Church, 801 West First Street, Grimes, Iowa. The family encourages all to wear your Hawkeyes or Cubs attire in celebration of Ed’s life.

Ed was born May 27, 1945, in Leon, Iowa, the son of Walter and Betty (Graves) Frost. He graduated from Central Decatur High School in 1963. Ed’s first marriage resulted in the birth of two children—Michele and Jim. He began working for John Deere in 1972. He worked there for thirty years as a machinist/painter and was a loyal member of the United Auto Workers Union.

Ed married Catherine Gorman on May 27, 1995, and always said Catherine was his “birthday gift” to himself. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, attending church activities, and caring for his two dogs—Max and Peanut. Ed was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs.

Family was first and foremost for Ed. He would check in with his kids and grandkids daily. Ed was very proud of his family and relished the opportunity to share their accomplishments with anyone who would listen. His pride earned him “fan of the year” for his attendance at his grandson’s wrestling meets.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law Steve Craig and Tim Hay. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; his children, Michele (Keith) Brown and Jim (Wendy) Frost; grandchildren Luke (Sarah) Hockett, Sadie Bruce, Dylan (Kelsie) Frost, and Megan (Brandon) Johnson; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings Mike (Peggy) Frost, Joyce Craig, Mary Hay, Barbara Frost, and Kevin (Sheri) Frost.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Prairie Creek Church.
