BURL ELVIN BRINER

Burl E. Briner, son of Sam and Edna Barthlow Briner, was born February 13, 1908 at Grand River, Iowa. He passed away August 15, 1985 at the age of 77 years, six months and two days.

Burl was united in marriage to Violet Irene Grim on June 16, 1926 in Ord, Nebraska. They moved to Ringgold County, Iowa in 1938l. To this union eleven children were born.

Burl spent most of his life farming in the Ringgold County area. He enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed many hobbies of which his favorite was fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Violet, of the home; Alverta and husband George Dailey of Maloy, Richard and wife Dora and family of Creston, Earl and wife Coleen of Tingley, Tyrone and wife Sherri and family of Tingley, Claudette Young and family of Idaho Springs, Colo., Vance and wife Elaine and family of Mount Ayr, Candell and husband Garland Smith of Lamoni, Pam and husband Don Wiegel and family of New Virginia and Greg and Debbie of the home.

There are also two sisters and one brother: Mrs. Neva Grimm of Ellston, Mrs. Katherine DeBusk of Arenis Valley, New Mexico, and Lloyd Briner of Grand River. There are 28 grandchildren 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Lowell; one daughter Jo-Quetta in infancy, three grandsons, David Lee and Bryan Ray Briner in infancy and Paul Dailey, and one granddaughter, Tina McWilliams.

Services were held from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home at Mount Ayr, Iowa on August 17, 1985, conducted by Rev Walter Zarr. Music was provided by Mildred Smith, Gary Wurster and John Allen.

Casketbearers were Alan Briner, Steve Briner, Rodney Briner, Jim Johnson, Allen Briner and Timmy McWilliams. Burial was in the Wheelis Cemetery at Grand River, Iowa.
