Flora Anna, daughter of Elisha Chandler and Anna Malisa Mayhew was born on a farm in Ripley county, Indiana, April 21, 1870, near Versailles.

Her mother died when Flora was 17 years old, leaving her to assist her father in caring for two younger brothers and a sister.

On May 5, 1889, she married Joseph T. Silver and to this union three sons were born, Howard and Ralph of Lamoni and Clair of Austin, Texas.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1926. Also preceding her in death were both brothers, William and Elisha Chandler, Jr.; her sister, Julia Amanda, otherwise known as Mattie Merritt of Lamoni; and half-sister, Edith Wanamaker of Indianapolis, Ind.

Flora died at the Decatur County hospital in Leon after a brief illness, at the age of 98 years, two months and nine days.

Besides her three sons, her survivors include eight grandsons; Don of Boone, Iowa, Max and Lyle of Seattle, Wash., Robert of San Francisco, Calif; Raymond of Tipton, Iowa; Maurice of Lamoni; Gary of Dundee, Iowa, and James of Austin, Texas; one granddaughter, Jacqueline of Cody, Wyo., nine great-granddaughters, some cousins in the East, and a host of friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 2, 1968, at the Lamoni RLDS church. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
