At the home of her son-in-law, Elder H.R. Harder, on May 1, at 10:30 a.m., Mrs. Elizabeth Daugherty, passed to the world beyond, aged 79 years, 5 months, and 24 days. She had been failing for months and her departure was expected.

She was born in Belmont county, Ohio, December 21, 1821, and married Hiram Daugherty in Indiana on April 18, 1839. They were members of the Christian New Light church and gave liberally towards endowing a college of that faith in Indiana.

But while living in Decatur county, Iowa, in 1974, they became satisfied that the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ held the true doctrine and faith, therefore united with it March 25, 1875, being baptized by Elder C.H. Jones. They afterward lived in Kansas but returned to this region in 1889, and Mr. Daugherty died near Ellston, Ringgold county, Iowa, six years ago.

Her character was one of marked uprightness, and she was always ready to labor and sacrifice for the good of others, being very devoted and unselfish in her nature.

She passed away in peace. By her request Elder Henry A. Stebbins preached the discourse over her remains, the service being held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harder.
