MRS. MAHALA GARLAND
Mahala G. Tharp was born September 8, 1855, in Burns township, Henry county, Ill, died April 11, 1926, being at the time of death 71 years, 7 months, and 2 days old.

She was married to Robert Garland July 5, 1874. To this union were born seven children, six of whom are living. They are Mrs. George Martin, Lamoni; Mrs. A.T. Erwine, Artesian, S.D.; Mrs. George Snively, Lamoni; Mrs. Frank Vincent, York, Nebr.; Eline who died in infancy; William Harrison, Artesian, S.D.; and Joseph E., Lamoni. There are also ten living grandchildren.

Her companion preceded her two years ago, the 26th of this month. Mrs. Garland was the last member of a large family of children.

She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints, having been baptized April 4, 1875. She had been one of the most active workers in the Evergreen branch for many years.

Funeral services were held from the Evergreen church Wednesday afternoon, April 14, W.T. Shakespeare in charge, sermon by Eli Hayer. Interment is Rose Hill.
