Thursday, October l8, l9l7LUCY ANN BUCK, daughter of MINERVA and ANDREW BUCK, was born near Crawfordsville, Indiana, November l6, l833. She was of Dutch descent, her parents having moved from Holland to Pennsylvania, then to Indiana. She was the oldest of ten children, having three sisters and six brothers. Her mother died when she was ten years of age and the cares of a family soon were carried by the child. On September 22nd, l853, she was married to JOSEPH HAMILTON. In the same month they moved to Decatur County, Iowa and settled on a farm at the site now known as Delray. Here were born nine children: WILLIAM B., LENNIS, MRS. MARTHA A. GARDNER, GENEVA, MRS. ARMETTA GAMMILL, JOHN F., FANNIE A., GEORGE M., and HARVEY D., of whom LENNIS, GENEVA, FANNIE and HARVEY have passed on.
In early life she united with the Church of Christ where she has ever been a faithful member. They moved to Leon January 6th, l876 where they have since resided. Here she died October 8th, l9l7, aged 83 years, l0 months and 22 days. She was a most devoted mother and a kind and loving neighbor. She was in failing health for the past four years but was always patient and uncomplaining. Besides the aforementioned children she leaves a sister, MRS. W.A. BURNETT, of Oberlin, Kansas, thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
