Thursday, January ll, l9l7The death messenger is not a respector of persons. This time the call came to MRS. JESSE BRINER,
nee LOUISE MILLER, who was born in Ohio, February ll, l843. She died at her home near Grand River, December 30, l9l6, at the age of 73 years, l0 months and l9 days. MISS MILLER came with her parents to Iowa in the spring of l853 and her whole life since then has been spent in that vicinity, which is now known as Grand River. On March l0th, l862, she was married to JESSE BRINER. Seven children, MRS. J.M. RITCHIE, Los Angeles, Calif.; MRS. R. BRENNAMAN, Grand River; MRS. L.H. LAMBERTON, and MRS. WM. HALTERMAN, Omaha, Nebraska; WALTER, of Van Wert; JAMES, Griswold, Iowa; and ELZA, of Dallas, South Dakota, with one brother, the husband, fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren are left to mourn her death. Many friends and neighbors join them in their grief, and also extend sincere sympathy in this sad hour of sorrow.
MRS. BRINER had been for over forty years an honored member of the Baptist Church. One strange thing about it was that she was always a member of the same local congregation. Her devotion to her family has impressed itself on the children and they call her blessed. All of the children have followed in her footsteps becoming obedient to the Lord. She lived as she died, believing in Jesus. When the Master returns, it will be to claim his own. The funeral was held in the Church of Christ, on New Year's Day, A.B. Cornell, Pastor of the Church, preaching the sermon. The body was laid to rest in the Van Wert Cemetery to await the coming of the Lord in His glory. "Where Christ, who is our life shall appear, there shall we also appear with Him in glory."
