MARY E. GIBSON was born near Danville, Illinois, July 9th, l860, and died September l2th, l9l6, at her home west of Garden Grove at the age of 56 years, 2 months and 3 days. She moved with her parents to Labett County, Kansas, when a girl of eleven years of age. In l880 she came to Iowa and made her home with her aunt, JULIA METIER. September 23rd, l883, she was united in marriage to F.W. BOYCE. To this union were born seven children, five daughters and two sons, TOUR, LOWELL and LUCILLE at home; MRS. BELLE SHAW and MRS. LENA STUBBS, at Red Oak, and MRS. LAVETTA EVANS, of Corydon, the other daughter dying in infancy. The family have lived all of their married life in Decatur County except five years which they spent in Creston.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, four daughters, two sons, five grandchildren, her step-mother, two brothers, two half-brothers and four half-sisters.

She was a good woman, a loving affectionate mother, a good neighbor and kind friend, and was held in high esteem by a large circle of acquaintances.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church Thursday, September l4th, by Rev. J.G. duling, interment being in the Garden Grove Cemetery.
