Decatur County Journal
Thursday, July l3, l9l6

The death of the little daughter of MR. and MRS. ORVILLE BUTCHER occurred at the home of its grandparents, MR. and MRS. ALBERT WHEELER, on last Friday afternoon. MISS VIOLA MAY BUTCHER was born on the l9th day of June, l9l5, and departed out of this life on Friday, July 7, l9l6, being one year and l8 days old. Her life was short on this earth, but we know that it will be forever at home with Jesus. She was a sweet little girl. She always had a smile for papa, mamma, brother and sister, and she will be greatly missed in the home, but we would not call her back if we could for we know she has a house not made with hands eternal in the Heavens. There we can see her at home with Jesus so we will go to her and rejoice over the victory won by the blood of Christ Jesus.

Her funeral was held in the auditorium of the park at Davis City at ll o'clock. A large concourse of sympathizing friends and neighbors were in attendance. After the services she was laid to rest in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, there to rest until the grave shall be unlocked and the dead in Christ shall rise. She leaves father and mother, one brother, one sister and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her departure. Farewell mother, father, sister, brother and all. For it was a babe Christ had called, so don't mourn for me for it's in vain to call me to your sight again. Afflictions long I bore. Physicians were in vain, till God was pleased to give me ease and take me from my pain.
