Our town was shocked Friday morning to learn of the death of MRS. SAM MCMURTREY, which occurred about four o'clock that morning. Her death came without warning to any, for she died within a few hours after she was taken ill.
Funeral services were held Sunday at eleven o'clock in the M.E. Church, Reverend Branscomb preaching the sermon, after which she was laid to her final resting place in the cemetery here. She leaves her husband, three children and mother, besides many other relatives and friends to mourn her departure.

ELSIE LOU VADA PRICE, daughter of H.F. and E.E. PRICE, was born in Decatur County, Iowa, April 22, l882, and died at her home northwest of Van Wert, Friday morning at 4 a.m., November l4, l9l9, aged 37 years, 6 months and 23 days.
On September 2l, l904, she was united in marriage to SAMUEL MCMURTREY, of Van Wert, Iowa. To this union were born four children: DONALD, who died in infancy; JENNIE, aged l0; FRANK, aged 2, and an infant daughter.
She also leaves a husband and an aged mother, besides a host of friends who mourn her loss.She was converted at the age of l5 and became an active member of the M.E. Church, but after her marriage, she united with the U.B. Church of which she remained an active member until her death. Funeral services at the M.E. Church in Van Wert were conducted by Pastor J.A. Branscomb, at 11 a.m., November l6, l9l9; Interment following in the Van Wert Cemetery.
