'AN AGED PIONEER DIES'

Last week Decatur County lost one of its
oldest citizens as well as one
of its pioneers. LARKIN MCDANIEL was born in
West Virginia, September
22, l823. He died at the home of ANDREW
(ANG)T. WELDON, near Davis
City, September 20, l9l5.

With his father and mother, he moved to
northern Missouri in the year of
l837. The next year they moved east of Terre
Haute, Iowa. In the year,
l853, he moved with his parents to Oregon and
while there his occupation
was that of a miller and farmer. He returned
to Iowa in l882, and for
the larger part of the time made his home
with ANDREW (ANG) T. WELDON
west of Decatur City, and moved with him to
the new home near Davis
City, where he died.

MR. MCDANIEL has lived the life of a pioneer
and like the sturdy race to
which he belongs, lived to a ripe old age,
ninety-two years lacking two
days. MR. MCDANIEL was never married; he
leaves to mourn his absence,
one brother, six nephews, three nieces and a
host of friends of a long
time standing. He was a good neighbor and
citizen and a character loved
and respected by all.

The funeral services were conducted by Henry
Esch, Pastor of the
Christian Church at Leon, at the Woodard
School House, District No. l,
Long Creek Township, Tuesday afternoon,
September 2lst. Interment was
at the Munyon Cemetery.
