MRS. DORA ALICE STEVENS, daughter of ROBERT ALLBEE of this city,
committed suicide at her home ll miles north of Rockport, Mo., on the
evening of December l, l897, by shooting herself through the head. A
coroner's inquest held before J.P. Sanders rendered a verdict in
accordance with the above statement. Ill health is the motive which
prompted the rash act.
The deceased leaves a husband and two small children. The remains were
laid at rest in Bethel Cemetery, Eden Township, last Sunday.
JOHN H. STEVENS, the husband, arrived Tuesday with the little boy who
will be cared for by his grandfather. The little girl was turned over
to the care of MR. STEVENS' sister at Chariton. The relatives of the
deceased have the sympathy of all who know them.
