March 2, l899

Died, at Leon, of whooping cough, CLYDIE HOWARD, son of A.C. and E.J. BARKLEY, aged one year and nineteen days. After suffering only a few days, he departed this life for a happier life beyond. The remains were laid to rest in the Hamilton Cemetery.

My baby now has gone away

Here in my arms but yesterday

Or scarce so long ago.

His golden head upon my breast,

His little limbs are now at rest.

Our little darling's loving eyes

Were bright and blue as summer skies

Are closed in sleep to wake no more,

Until upon the other shore.

But oh, with head upon my breast

No baby nestles close to rest,

Still he is better off I know.

I often bow my head and cry,

I miss my baby so.
