JOHN KANE, a well known citizen of Creston, who has been ailing for some
time, at his home on Wyoming Avenue in this city, died this morning at
three o'clock at the age of 69 years. MR. KANE was an employee of the
railroad company until a short time ago, and has been a respected and
hard working (there is a large tear in the page and several lines are
missing..) quarter of a century. To the older residents of this city he
will be missed among those who have associated with him for these many
years. The family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in
this hour of affliction.

MR. JOHN KANE was born in Tipperary, Ireland, in l835, died at 3:l5
a.m., November l9, l904, at his residence, 509 Wyoming Avenue, Creston,
Iowa, aged 69 years, 6 months. He moved to Creston from Illinois in
l876 and entered the service of the railroad company, having been
employed by the C.B. & Q. for twenty-six years. He was the father of
nine children, six of whom survive him, as follows: MRS. ED DOLEN,
Lincoln, Nebraska; MRS. A. E. EVANS, Lincoln, Nebraska; JOHN KANE,
Boone, Iowa; MRS. H.O. HARVEY, Leon, Iowa; MRS. GEORGE CROWE, Omaha; TOM
KANE, Creston, Iowa, all of whom were present at the time of death.
The deceased has one sister, MRS. JAMES READY, who, with her husband,
was also at the bedside.

The funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m., at St. Malachy's
Church; interment in Calvary.
