SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. KALLEY.

Decatur County Journal
January 2, l902

MRS. KALLEY, wife of S.D. KALLEY, and a very estimable woman, was found
dead in her bed by her aged husband on last Friday morning. The family
live in a house on Jid Wasson's farm in Decatur County, west of the
Morris bridge.

MRS. KALLEY retired at the usual time and in an apparent good health the
evening previous. MR. KALLEY, who slept in an adjoining room, called
her at the usual hour in the morning but received no response.
After waiting for a time, he again called her and still receiving no
reply, he went to the bed and found her cold in death. From the
appearance and condition of the body, it is supposed that she died
shortly after retiring the night before.

She was a very large and fleshy woman, aged about 59 years and weighed
nearly 300 pounds. Fatty degeneracy of the heart is supposed to have
been the cause of her death. The township trustees were notified and
met at the house and provided for expenses for the funeral, the family
being very poor, but were respected by all. No inquest was deemed
necessary.

The funeral was held from Logan Chapel and the remains interred at the
Cemetery near the church.
