DIED--At her home in Long Creek Township, on the eighteenth day of
December, of typhoid fever, after a long, painful illness, MRS. SARAH
BALES, wife of WM. BALES.

Sister BALES, with her husband, came to Decatur County more than twenty years ago and settled in Long Creek Township, in the community known as
"Tennessee", from the fact that so many of the neighbors emigrated from that state.

Sister BALES, although not a member of any church, was regarded by all her neighbors as a good woman. Her end was peaceful. She leaves a husband and eight children to mourn. Funeral services held by the writer at the new Christian Church in "Tennessee" and, although the day was very cold, yet the church was filled with sympathizing friends. We laid her remains to rest in the beautiful grave yard near the church, in hope of a glorious resurrection.
